We now have a community defibrillator, installed on the wall outside our village shop, immediately right of the entrance. Lyn and Richard Bavin have taken on responsibility for checking and maintaining this.
The case is not locked, though it does emit an alarm while open. The defibrillator equipment can easily be lifted out of the case and taken to the person in need. The defibrillator will speak out instructions and tell you whether or not the person would benefit from using the shock pads, so no training is necessary to operate it. However, training does add to the effectiveness of use.
If you need to take the defibrillator, as soon as the emergency is over please inform
Lyn and Richard Bavin, 5 Millway, Wellington, HR4 8AS
Phone 07792 298 271
You can also try 01432 830168, but please only speak in person on this line – do not leave a message if the phone is not answered, in case we cannot pick it up quickly.
Please let us know even if the defibrillator is not actually used. We clean the defibrillator, fit new pads if needed, and make sure it is ready for use again. We need to do this as quickly as possible.
We are also required to inform the Ambulance Service, who keep records of when a Community Defibrillator is used and the outcomes.
Thank you very much
If there is demand there will be further training sessions put on for members of the community. If you would like to know more about the defibrillator or would like to attend a training course please contact Richard Bavin on 07792 298271 or on firstname.lastname@example.org.
